DIARY OF A PRODUCTION GOAT

devilOK OK. I know I declared that I will do “a blog a day” until the trade show.
This little goat is feeling very sheepish right about now.
This is my excuse people.
I got home late on Sunday after a long day of marketeering and driving to and from Geelong, I was a little tired so I sat on the couch and turned on the TV…. Devil wears Prada was on!
I dont think I need to say anymore, that movie too brilliant to turn off.
The fashion, the location’s and those amazing looks of disgust re: Andy’s outfits (pre makeover of course).
As for yesterday… well no excuse really.
The dog ate my blog teacher!

INSPIRE THE INSPIRED – state of play

shop 1shop 2Let me just say Knuffle Kid will be in good hands in the future, my apprentices have been busy setting up shop all this afternoon.

I think they grabbed most of their clothes from the cupboard and folded them nicely on the table, made a sign and on the cupboard box counter, they have a squirrel shaped bookend that is the scanner.

Maybe they can do my market tomorrow and I can sleep in!

Oh by the way the harassing of my sewers worked, invoices are done and stock will be heading out the door when the shops are ready.

Time for a cup of tea… no stuff it, beer time. I think I deserve it.

DIARY OF A PRODUCTION GOAT

computerWith the trade show under a week away, there is a lot of things to do. The only way to combat the tide of lose ends is a list!
I am a list lady.
Todays list;
- invoicing… still a few to go, but I needed a break and decided to blog instead
- blog… check
- pack invoiced orders… see invoicing
- email and harass sewers for remaining summer production… still no reply
- ring sewers and harass them for remaining summer production… I’ll do that when I’ve finished blogging
- photoshop winter photo’s for secret winter gallery… sorry non-shop people this will be just for retailers, gotta keep some things a surprise
- get stock ready for Piccidilly market… hope you’re all coming
- have a cup tea… check.. maybe I need another one
- type up winter price list and print out… finalising prices might be a good idea also.

Anyway enough blogging I’ve got a goat load of work to get through.

KIDS V’S FOOD – pancakes

There is nothing better than a Sunday morning spent spreading flour around every inch of the kitchen.

Thats just me cooking – you should see it when the kids get involved!

I just worked out a new recipe. You make a runnier type of pikelet mixture and you end up with big, soft, fluffy pancakes.  The kids love fresh berries on their pancakes, and one of the best toppings last Sunday was this freaky massive two headed strawberry (no jokes about Tassy people, that was my birth place). The other was blueberry jam and yoghurt. Sounds strange but was delish!

BEHIND THE SCENES – trade show prep

kisWith eight days to go until the start of the trade show, things are starting to ramp up in KK HQ.
Little Billy is wearing his tiny hooves down from all the jobs on the TO DO list!
So it was lovely to see a fantastic blog done by the Life Instyle team last night, all the hard work seems to be paying off.

NEW WEB LOOK

george and lulu2If you haven’t noticed already, there is a new look to the KK website. The web fairies have been working in overdrive to come up with the new look homepage and new summer gallery.
I love this range! Its called “Forest for the Trees” and if you’re interested in the behind the scenes shots, check out this old blog.
Here is a little bit about it.
Have you ever found yourself completely engrossed in the detail, ever been accused of “not seeing the forest for the trees”?
Well the new summer range is all about the detail and getting lost in it.
It’s also loosely about the fable Hansel and Gretel. Not the weird-children-eating-old-witch bit of Hansel and Gretel. But the bit about siblings hanging in the forest together, climbing tree’s, imagining edible houses, getting lost and then becoming found again.
The colour palette is a mix of teal, rose, pink, greens and charcoal. In spots, stripes and the knuffle kid topography print on organic jersey.
Adorable “lolly pop” shorts and “gretel” skirt with strap’s, gingham “grimm” shirt and the spotty “sister” dress are only a few that make up the range.
Beautiful Australian made lace trims the garments, along with red detail stitching, pleats and gathers.

Enjoy.

HOME PROJECT – fruit box shelving

shelfEbay is dearly loved around KK HQ. There are some quirky things for sale!
We needed some shelving in our living room and started hunting the virtual shops.
Eventually we decided on something different and came across some old wooden fruit boxes.
Nothing like a bit of up-cycling!
We hand screwed them all together (mighty job that was) and fixed them to the wall.
Kaz-zam!
Hot new shelving that look super cool and industrial.

INSPIRE THE INSPIRED – Australian made.

dmtJust spent the morning at the Design:Made:Trade show at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton, Victoria.

There was a mix of both Australian and international designers/products.

It filled me with a great sense of pride that there are quite a few companies still designing/producing in Australia. At fantastic standards.

Let’s say it’s something that I’m passionate about.

Its time to rally the troops and spend on local not global!
